What´s going on?

Hi to all,

We have been so relaxed here in Cochabamba that our blogging has become less consistent... We assure you that in the next week, our travels will become more frequent as will our blogging.

A few updates:

1. We had a small petty-theft robber steal one of our backpacks, and therefore we´ve had to hang out in Cochabamba an extra week waiting for new passports to be printed (we should receive them Monday). Andrew will write about this experience in great depth hopefully sometime soon. Believe it or not, we´ve turned a bad situation into a very very entertaining one.
2. Because of #1 we are without a camera - a huge huge bummer. BUT, the Needle-rents will be joining us in Buenos Aires on Nov4th and delivering a replacement. So, until then, our camera work may be a bit sparce...we will try to borrow a camera this weekend and maybe use a disposable next week...

3. We will be traveling to the Chapare this weekend with our friend Gallo, a guide by profession. "The majority of the territory is comprised of valley rainforests that surround the area's main waterway, the Chapare River, which is also a tributary of the Amazon River." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chapare_Province )

4. After the Chapare trip, we are planning to visit Salar de Uyuni. "Some 40,000 years ago, the area was part of Lake Minchin , a giant prehistoric lake. When the lake dried, it left behind two modern lakes, Poopó and Uru Uru, and two major salt deserts, Salar de Coipasa and the larger Uyuni. Uyuni is roughly 25 times the size of the better-known Bonneville Salt Flats in the United States. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salar_de_Uyuni) (Yes, you read that right...here in Bolivia there is not only one huge lake with a silly name, but two!)

5. Then we will travel by train and bus or plane to possibly Iguazu Falls then Buenos Aires... Stay tuned!

I can't believe how much that sucks about your backpack getting stolen. Did you lose many pictures IN your camera? That can be almost as bad as the loss of the camera itself.

I'm impressed by how not totally insane with rage you are. (Of course I'm terribly behind with your blog and don't yet know the follow up to the story.)

Yup, lost almost 2Gb of photos. Luckily we´ve been putting some of the better photos on the blogsite. But, many of the gems were lost - the fish that got away? It´s a big bummer, but more sad was that I lost a journal which covered this trip to South America as well as our trip to Nicaragua last April. Bummin´! Over a beer (or if Andrew ever writes it up on the blog) we will tell you the story of the stolen goods and the adventures that followed: classic Needleman-Frishman insanity. Thanks for the sympathy. I´ve been quite insecure without the camera by my side...many unphotographed moments. ho hum.
