Bienvenidos a Argentina!

29 October 2006

We have made it to the land of Argentina http://www.argentinaturistica.com/2datosargen.htm , where intestinal illnesses are less common and there are even fat people!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obese and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fat We can even eat the salads here! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salad

On the 28th, we took an overnight train from Uyuni to Villazon. After an unanticipated 24 hour stay at the border of Bolivia and Argentina (combating some GI issues). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diarrhea and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Food_contaminants

We walked from Villazon, Bolivia into La Quiaca, Argentina. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Quiaca and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argentina Then hopped on a 7 hour bus to Salta, Argentina. Unlike our crossing from Peru into Bolivia, we could immediately see and feel the difference between Argentina and Bolivia. First, we sat down in leather seats on the bus that reclined into a wonderfully comfortable sleeper seat. Then we road highly developed highways and stopped at very stylish gas stations. It was clear we had entered a more economically advanced country.

We have spent some time exploring Salta, a wonderful town! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salta We have really enjoyed the town. Museums were closed on Monday, so we decided to hang out another day to visit the museums on Tuesday.

We will slowly work our way down to Buenos Aires - stopping at Tucuman and Cordoba. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tucuman and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Córdoba,_ArgentinaWe will get to Buenos Aires in time to meet the Needle´rents by Nov. 4th. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parents With the parents, we will spend about 10 days exploring Buenos Aires Argentina and Montevideo Uruguay. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buenos_aires and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montevideo Then Andrew and I will spend some more time in Montevideo before flying up to Iguazu Falls where we will see the falls from both the Argentinian and the Brasilian sides. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iguazu_Falls We hope to then do some hiking in the northeastern part of Argentina.

Hasta pronto!
